Latest Stats Revealing Online Expenditure

The online culture of modern society is changing the way marketers reach their audience. The some 135 million Europeans constituting the 5 union countries: UK, Italy, Germany, Spain and France, have shown obvious trends of increased online activity in the last year.
In a recent report by eMarketers.com, it is expected that online marketing in Europe will double in the next few years, reaching an estimated Eur16billion by 2012. This trend represents a major shift in consumer behaviour as people are spending less time watching TV due to their increased preference to being online.

With the ubiquity of email and the fact that it has a 90% penetration rate, email represents an audience with critical mass, and it is the primary delivery vehicle for word-of-mouth marketing. This should be ringing bells for marketers as it is a change to be taken advantage of.

More than 80% of Internet users say that email and the web have become indispensable technologies, according to an online research report. As a result online marketing spending throughout Europe has increased dramatically over the last few years.
